Animal Kingdom Introduction by ViridianVenus Animal Kingdom Introduction by ViridianVenus
NOT DRAWN BY ME!!

This was originally drawn by :iconjackfreak1994: and posted back in August. I contacted her way back then and asked her if she'd be okay with me coloring some of her stuff. She was pretty excited by the idea and gave me permission. Fast forward a million years later, since I seem to move at the speed of glacier and I finally have something to show. Poor girl, she probably thinks I forgot all about her. But it wasn't lazyness! I swear! My internal monologue was basically this:

"This is gonna be so cool! I'm gonna watercolor the SHIT out of this! It's gonna be amazing! It's gonna be spectacu.... what the hell am I doing? Watercolor? I'm not even any good at watercolor! I've only done like 5 paintings ever! What gave me the impression this was gonna be a good idea? I'm gonna ruin it!"

Then I'd run and hide from it for a good month or so before actually giving it a go, then I'd have a similar panic attack after each. freaking. color.

"I did the red! The red looks good! Now it's time for the blues! ......NO I CAN'T!!!" *run and hide*

But in the end I got it done! Though if I color any of her other pieces it will DEFINATELY be digital. I need my undo button safety blanket.

Anyway, onto particulars. This is watercolor, obviously. Lineart originally in regular pencil before a final go over in Prismacolor pencils. Finished off with copius amounts of photoshop color correction. The background is based off of the real location in Animal Kingdom where the real L&S face characters meet with guests at the park. It's kinda hard to tell but the little speckles on the ribbon in little Lilo's hair, the pencil, and the autograph book are done in glitter glue. It looks better in real life.

Watercolor... one medium i'll never get comfortable with. Lovly image indeed! It brings me back to 2004 when i first visited Disney World. Was a long way to travel since i live in Sweden.
Heh, the speed of a glacier, huh? Can't say i'm much different though i'm sure i'm a lot slower. I havn't forgotten about your prize commission and i AM working on it. I'm just so very slow at time >_<.

Again, Really nice coloring and drawing from both of you! Always nice to see more L&S artwork. :3

I..I LOVE IT!!! :la:

I'm so impressed, to me watercolors seem very challenging. I really like the background. It really makes it a lot more believable that they are actually there in disneyworld, it really makes a big difference when it's colored. I never thought you were lazy, I know that it takes time because I too have work for others to complete. :)

I literally squealed when I saw this, many thanks for this beautiful colored work. :tighthug:

Sooooo... if... hypothetically, I wanted to color your 'Princess of Halloween town' drawing... you'd be cool with that? It'd be digital, which means it won't take me anywhere near as long... And if you ARE cool with it I need some information on what colors that dress she's wearing is supposed to be. Since she's your OC I'd want to get the particulars accurate to what you have pictured in your mind. I've got the movie so I can replicate the background with no problem.

Of course i'm okay with it. Let's see, the places where I shaded a darker color are black, the rest are dark grey colors. In the bottom dress, the top ripped fabric is dark gray while the once underneath is black (didn't shade it because of laziness). Can't wait, and thank you :)
